Hash Generator

Generate MD5, SHA-1, and SHA-256/384/512 hashes from text or a file. Everything is computed on your own machine — nothing is uploaded — which actually matters for a checksum tool.

How it works & why offline matters here: hashes are computed entirely on your own machine — SHA hashes use the browser's built-in cryptography, and MD5 runs in a small built-in routine. Nothing you type or drop is uploaded. That's the whole point for a checksum tool: many online hash sites send your text or file to their server, which defeats the purpose if you're hashing a password, a private file, or anything sensitive. A note on MD5 and SHA-1: both are fine for verifying that a file downloaded correctly, but they're considered broken for security — use SHA-256 or stronger when the hash needs to resist tampering.
