Smart formatting

Say it naturally.
Get it written properly.

Most dictation gives you a transcript. You then go back and fix every number, every date and every dollar sign by hand. Lickety writes them the way you would have typed them in the first place.

Numbers that know they are a series

Say a list of numbered items the way you say it out loud and it comes out numbered properly, with the decimal part carried down the list. Ranges keep their unit on both ends.

7.1, 2, and 3
7.1, 7.2, and 7.3
40 to 89%
40% to 89%
between 15 and 20 inches
between 15 and 20 inches

The last one is deliberate. It already reads correctly, so nothing fires.

Part numbers, UPCs and phone numbers

These are the ones that cost you the most time, because a wrong digit is invisible until something ships to the wrong place. You set up a template once, give it a spoken trigger, and the digits land in the right shape every time.

part number 4 7 2 dash 1 1 0 6
472-1106
phone number 9 0 3 5 5 5 0 1 8 8
(903) 555-0188

Dates, in your format

Three formats to choose from, and you decide whether the words you used to introduce the date stay in the sentence or drop out. Several dates in one sentence are handled separately.

the date is seven thirty-one twenty-six
7/31/2026
June sixteenth twenty twenty-six
June 16, 2026

Times, money and arithmetic

Times follow your Windows clock, 12-hour or 24-hour. Money comes out as money. Arithmetic comes out as something you can paste into a calculator or a spreadsheet note.

10 30
10:30
three hundred and thirty-eight dollars
$338
two million dollars
$2 million
187 times 12
187 × 12

And the ones that are just annoying

Addresses are the clearest example. No dictation tool hears the word correctly, because the two words sound identical.

Questions

Can I choose the date format?

Yes. Three formats, and a separate switch for whether the words that introduced the date stay in the sentence.

Does it change numbers I don’t want changed?

Formatting only fires on a clear signal: a trigger phrase you chose, the word “dollars”, or a number on both sides of “times”. Each kind has its own switch, so anything you don’t want is one checkbox away from off.

What if I dictate into a spreadsheet?

The same rules apply, which is usually the point. A number that arrives already formatted is a number you don’t have to re-key.
