Why recipe search became like this

The thousand words about a grandmother before the ingredient list are not an accident, and the author is not being self-indulgent. Longer pages rank better and hold more advertising, so the economics of recipe sites reward burying the recipe.

You cannot fix the incentive from here. You can aim at the sites that handle it better and push the worst of it down.

What this steers toward

Known-good cooking sites get favoured; image boards and video results get cut when you want text you can read at the stove with floury hands.

Add ingredients to the extra box to work from what is already in the fridge, or use the style options for quick, healthy or baking. Those shape the query rather than filtering results afterwards, which works better.

An honest note

This builds a better query. It cannot reach into a page and remove the life story, and it makes no claim about whether a recipe is any good — that remains a matter between you and the reviews.

The query is built on your machine and not recorded. Running it sends it to the engine you picked, which has its own policies.

Questions

Common questions

What does this tool do?

It builds a focused recipe search that pushes real recipes up and the long-winded, ad-heavy filler down, then runs it in your chosen search engine.

How do I use it?

Type a dish or ingredients, optionally pick a style (quick, healthy, baking), choose any sites to favor or noise to cut, and click Search.

Why is this better than a normal recipe search?

Normal recipe searches bury the actual recipe under a long personal story and ads, with image-board and video results crowding the page. This favors known-good cooking sites and cuts that noise, so you get to the recipe faster.

Can I steer it toward certain ingredients or styles?

Yes. Add ingredients or words in the extra box, and use the style options for quick, healthy, or baking recipes. Those shape the search toward what you actually want.

Does it track my searches?

No. The tool builds the search on your own computer and doesn't track what you look for. The search runs in whatever engine you choose, which has its own policies.
